Go with the Flow

December 19, 2007

I've been thinking a lot about the concept of flow lately...

The Not-So-Wonder Twins: Perfectionism and Procrastination

December 19, 2006

My client Philippa Kennealy has a really insightful post on her Entrepreneurial MD Blog on "The Price of Perfectionism."

New Category: Difficult Clients

November 14, 2006

I'm introducing a new category today: Difficult Clients.

The Last Day of Our Acquaintance

October 5, 2006

Don't get your hopes up...it's not the last day of this blog...

Concentration

July 7, 2006

Matthew Stibbe at Bad Language gives us list of 10 Ways to Concentrate on Writing. While some of these items I practice religiously when I'm having a mental block or need a motivational jump start (which is most days), others are new to me.

Getting back to normal, whatever that is

May 23, 2006

Almost as soon as I returned home from Mama Lee's funeral, I became really, really sick. Monkey Pox or the consumption, I think.

Not exactly springing forward

April 3, 2006

This is one of my least-favorite days of the year

Treating the Problem, Not the Symptoms

March 30, 2006

Marketing Guru Tom Asacker offers up a list of ways to authentically alleviate (and perhaps even avoid) stress in business.

Testing w.bloggar now

March 28, 2006

This could be the one...intuitive interface, and COLORS....

Desktop Blogging Clients

I'm experimenting with a couple of different blogging clients for a client of mine. She wants a WYSIWYG interface on MT, similar to what she had on TypePad.

DIY Troubleshooting

March 2, 2006

In the 1990s I had a couple of different jobs providing software technical support. If you're looking for a tried-and-true spirit-crushing career, tech support ranks right up there with porta-potty cleaner.

January 6, 2006

My initial reaction to today's Modest Change ("Learn the qualified yes") was "but I'm just learning how to say NO!"

A Not-So-Modest Endeavor

January 5, 2006

My next step in getting a leg up on things is to follow Merlin's advice on creating an "Email DMZ."

Modest Starts and Fresh Changes

I'm following Merlin Mann's series "Fresh Changes and Modest Starts" with great interest. Like him, I have always made broad resolutions for sweeping (and next to impossible) changes, and then promptly denounced the entire concept when (surprise, surprise) nothing happened. Baby steps were for suckers!

Maybe they call it Black Friday because it's pitch dark outside when the stores open...

November 27, 2005

Friday morning I found myself doing something I swore I'd never do...participating in that great American ritual of getting up at the crack of dawn for a "Black Friday" sale. And not just anywhere, but at that Geek Mecca, Fry's Electronics.

Still working out a few bugs

November 11, 2005

Finding a few kinks with the revised layout...am diligently correcting them now.

Think before you hit send...

November 7, 2005

This isn't so much about the content of emails as the really dumb things some people do on a daily basis with the very act of sending an email. I can name five people off the top of my head who are guilty of any of these...fine people, otherwise intelligent people...but guilty nonetheless.

Blurring the Line between Work and Play

September 20, 2005

Keith over at To-Done has another thoughtful post...this time about making work more fun. Even if you love your job, there will inevitably be certain aspects of it that grow tedious. It's always handy to have a few tricks up your sleeve to cut loose and make the day go faster.
