Bollywood It's Not

vanaja.jpg Yesterday Sam and I had the great pleasure of attending a screening of Vanaja, a selection at the Seattle International Film Festival.

Admittedly, a Telugu-language art house film would not normally be high on my movie viewing wish list, but this is a very special film indeed.

The story was touching, the actors were engaging, and the scenery was striking. But the best part was what the movie itself represented...pursuing your passion.

The director/writer is a former co-worker and photography buddy of Sam's, Rajnesh Domalpalli. About five years ago, Rajnesh left Silicon Valley to study to study film at Columbia University. Vanaja was his thesis project in the MFA program.

The film has been in festivals all over the world over the past few months, but it has not yet found distribution. If it is featured at a film festival in your area, check it out...and ponder what you could do if you pursued your passion as ardently as Rajnesh has.
