I am frequently asked by my clients and others about del.icio.us when they see the "add to del.icio.us" link at the bottom of my posts. I attempt to give them a quick explanation of the service, encourage them to use it, and send them on their merry way. And that's great, until they come back to me asking "no, really, what is del.icious?"
The always-awesome Andy Wibbels has posted a fantastic overview of del.icio.us that covers it far better than I've been able to:
Del.icio.us is a free service where thousands of people store their bookmarks, enabling you to see what’s trendy and popular. Bloggers can encourage readers to add their posts, allowing greater reach for a blogger’s content.
One thing I want to add is that actually using it is the best way to wrap your brain around it. At least it was for me. It's easy and free to open an account, and once you can see how it works it should click. I think I'll demo how I use it in my next post...it really is a potential goldmine!
