I'm experimenting with a couple of different blogging clients for a client of mine. She wants a WYSIWYG interface on MT, similar to what she had on TypePad.
My main machine is a Mac, and she is on a PC, so I couldn't simply refer her to my favorite (MarsEdit).
I tried installing FCKEditor into her MT install last week, but with no success. Whatsoever. In fact, it landed me on the express bus to Crazy Town (40 miles east of Funky Town, according to my map) after I had to completely reinstall MT. I got off that bus, but I think I managed to pull out several handfuls of hair in the process.
So I'm on my PC right now, trying out Qumana 3 Beta for Windows. So far, so good. It's on the short list, but it's not quite WYSIWYG enough.
This doesn't relate to this client, but I've noticed a high correlation between the people who want a WYSIWYG interface on something and the subsequent (and frequent overuse) use of color and formatting in text and headers. Could it be that users who don't NEED a WYSIWYG interface have an understanding of web standards and usability - what works, what is appropriate with color and formatting?
Just an observation.
