Fun at the ICF Conference

November 12, 2005

My friend and client (as well as former CoachVille VP, not to mention the closest thing I have to a Jewish mother) Donna Steinhorn invited me over to hang out yesterday with some of my favorite coach types who were in town for the ICF Annual Conference. It was good to catch up with old friends, finally meet (in person) people I've only known virtually, and get to know a few new folks as well. Lots of networking opportunities, but most importantly great fun was had.

I caught up with my old, old former CoachVille pals Andrea Lee and Tina Forsyth, promoting the new version of Andrea's book Multiple Streams of Coaching Income, as well as their upcoming project, Pink Spoon Marketing.

And I'll say it again...I wish I could make this book required reading for every one of my clients...not just coaches, but any one who develops and markets intellectual property. It's a career-evolving read.

Shari Horne and Andy WibbelsI must admit...one of the most exciting things for me all day was finally getting to meet Andy Wibbels in person. I've known as a virtual casual acquaintance for a while now, and (as you can probably tell by more than a few references to him throughout this site and the blog) I'm a big fan of Andy and his work. Snarky, smart, and talented...my favorite combination. This was right up there with getting to share a word and a hug with Heather Armstrong (dooce.com) at BlogHer.

ladieswholunch.jpgI had great food and even better conversation at a late lunch at Il Fornaio with Donna, Andy, Kim George, Stever Robbins, Maryam Webster, and Carol Zimmerman.

a delighted Kim FulcherAfter hanging out for a while back at the convention center (and discovering what it takes to make Andy blush), we headed down to south San Jose to a party hosted by Kim Fulcher, opening her absolutely stunning home to the ICF folks. I was pleased to finally meet her...she had been president of CoachVille for a few months last year, and although we were fairly close in proximity, we had never actually met. I admire what she is doing with the community she is spearheading at Compass Life Designs and I was happy we were able to touch base at long last.

Even better, Kim got the first shipment of her new book, Remodel Your Reality, last night. Not sure if it was really coincidental, but it was very exciting to get to watch her open up the box and see the final product for the first time. That kind of enthusiasm is contagious, and I love surrounding myself with such brilliant people who are accomplishing such awesome things!

All in all, a day well spent. While I did blow off have to reschedule some work, I think connecting with far-flung friends and building new relationships was well worth it.

So fantastic to meet you, my dear! I totally agree with you re: Andrea/Tina - I was rereading their stuff on the plane and it is CRUCIAL.

Hope to see you online soon! Take care - Andy
