I was in one of those modes for a while this afternoon...I was reading a blog someone had sent me a link to, and then I followed a link from there, and after several click throughs I found myself on someone's Bloglines account, going though their list of business-related blogs. It was very much like when I would go to the library as a child...finding one cool book, then another, reading strange magazines, discovering I could get Italian lanuage tapes as well as Spanish and French.
I completely lost track of time for about an hour. And then the phone rang...home line. "About your mortgage..." Less than one minute later, another telemarketer...same mortgage broker. I guess no means nothing to them. If Sam's said it once, he's said it a hundred times: we will never get a mortgage from someone who cold calls us.
I was able to slip back into my blog hunting bliss with each passing interruption. Until I heard the doorbell. And then the dog started going ape. I ran upstairs to catch it, dog and cat both close behind me. It was someone soliciting something. And he had a horrible little black rat dog under his arm. I sent him away, but my peace was gone.
I suppose he did me a favor in the long run, because I have lots of work to do and I can only justify exploring other people's blogs as a good use of my business time for so long. But it was glorious while it lasted.
