I had off upgrading to MT 3.2 for several weeks. I was very, very nervous about it...with little reason, I'm delighted to say!
I started to grow apprehensive when I had been working on launching my MT-based site for what seemed like years. I knew 3.2 was coming, and that it would be a big change. At that point, I decided to buckle down and do what it took to get the site launched on 3.17, give it some time to work, and then tackle the upgrade issue.
For once, a cooler head prevailed. As intrigued as I was all of the dandy bells and whistles I was reading about on a daily basis, I knew I needed to give it some time.
This past Sunday, after a relaxing brunch at Stanford Mall with Sam and Roscoe, I decided the time had come. I was calm (as calm as I ever get), rested (as rested as I ever get), and I had my resources. Elise (my hero) had published a very thorough post entitled A Safe Way to Upgrade to MT 3.2 at her site Learning Movable Type. After reading it 50 or 60 a few times, I methodically set out to upgrade.
It worked perfectly. And it was worth it...what an awesome upgrade! I just need to be as judicious as I decide what plug-ins to install. I hope I haven't used up my year's allotment of patience on the upgrade itself.
