After a lengthy search and testing process, I've finally found a Mac blog editor I can really use: MarsEdit, by Ranchero Software.
There were a couple of other worthy contenders, but there's just something about MarsEdit that fits my frequent bouts of laziness style of working.
It models an email client, with spellchecking, drafts, and the ability to have multiple windows open at once. I also love that it comes with several nifty AppleScripts that are either fun, useful, or both.
I tend to type in my own HTML tags as I write, but it has an easy-to-use pulldown with lots of selections, as well as Custom Tags menu that allows you add your own. Handy for people like me who have several CSS styles they'd love to apply.
Something I find a bit interesting is that their own spellchecker tags the name MarsEdit! Hee Hee.
The only thing I don't like is that I can't create new categories from the application...I still need to go into MovableType to do that. I understand technically why that it can't work, but I'd still love to have that capability. Or maybe I should just work within the category structure I've already established.
