Michael Pollack of Small Business Branding had a post this week that has really stuck with me.
Even though they usually have an expert level of knowledge and wisdom, most savvy solopreneurs don't really think of themselves as experts.
There's so much power and energy in hearing someone talk passionately and openly about their experiences.
In your own mind, however, you're better off being just another curious user looking for ways to solve your problems, achieve your goals and live a great life.

I feel like he has shined a light on something I have long struggled to define.
I've always been a bit uncomfortable being considered an "expert" on anything...even when I know I am. To me, being declared an expert seemed to put a roadblock in the way...the pressure of being that expert weighs on me. I start feeling like maybe I don't have to pursue this subject/interest any further. I know everything there is to know about it, and then the joy is gone.
That's not how I operate. I have love what I do, and I love learning more about it, and USE it as much as possible...no matter what the subject, personally or professionally. Identifying myself as a user keeps the door open for me to pursue my love of something, and leverage it in all kinds of different directions.
Thanks, Michael, for putting a name on something I've known about myself for a while.
